Do Photos Lie?

When I first explored Photoshop many years ago it was difficult to use and required a lot of skills to make significant changes.  Since then I have used Canon's own software or Lightroom to make basic edits, usually limited to cropping and basic lighting changes.

I have recently read some articles and viewed some YouTube videos describing new Artificial Intelligence elements inPhotoShop so thought I would have "a play" and found it surprisingly easy.

Spot the Differences

The image on the left is a pleasant record shot but is spoiled by:

  • The lead
  • A small van just behind Sonny's ear
  • A splash of mud on Sonny's forehead.
After 2 minutes:
  • There is no longer a lead
  • The van has disappeared, and
  • Sonny has "had a digital wash" to remove the mud!

The new contents aware editing tools in Photoshop are easy to use and took no time at all to achieve an edit that previously would have taken me more than an hour with little likelihood of achieving anywhere like this level of success.

How far can we go:

As edited to remove the railings!

As shot - in front of railings

So to answer my original question - yes photos do lie, but then so do sleeping dogs.
