June Assignment Progress
Close Up Flowers
Still no luck, I am afraid, getting assignment pictures online from each of you as you create them. I still hope to encourage a bit of dialogue about them before we meet each time so forgive me if I bang on about this again.
I have enjoyed this month's assignment; it has made me look around more while out walking Sonny. The hedgerows are full of flowers at this time of year. I have focused primarily on wild flowers and have experimented with different viewpoints to make the images "more arty".
My earlier advice about getting "down and dirty" is illustrated in this next group of images.

| "Getting down and dirty" |
The clump of buttercups, ground elder and clover in the top left shot make a pleasant "record shot" but is "a bit boring". The shot top right is of the same subject but, this time, is taken close up to and at the same level as the subject. The result is more pleasant and more striking.
The 2 shots in the lower row illustrate other aspects of this composition technique; a low viewpoint and an attempt at an interesting background.
The sky and fence on the left provide an interesting background. The fence post was deliberately set on a third but, in hindsight, dominates in this position and draws your attention from the daisies which were intended to be the main subject.
The final shot isolates a common poppy with the image of one of the stones from our henge out of focus acting as background.
