Start of my Personal Project for 2022 and the Wadswick Green Arts Exhibition
Personal Challenge 2022
There is a common consensus among photographers that setting yourself a project is a good way to challenge yourself and extend your photo skills. I was tempted to take on the 365 challenge, to take at least 1 photo every day for a year, but settled on the slightly lesser target of 1 a week. On top of that I have defined the project as producing a set of 4 linked images on a single output sheet and I intend to use my iPhone camera a lot more (to help in club meetings).
The following is my first image, taken on my iPhone in the woods just a short walk away from the Greenhouse. The camera was on the "photo setting" not the "portrait" setting we have used to control depth of field. Note this image has a pleasantly (in my opinion, anyway) shallow depth of field due to the short camera to subject distance and the large f1.8 aperture. This illustrates how the depth of field reduces as the camera gets closer to the subject; we are used to the iPhone giving a long depth of field out to infinity with these settings, when taking landscapes.
Now I have to take 3 other square format images on the theme of "Woodland Closeups" to form my first quadtych (group of 4 related images).
Wadswick Green Art and Craft Exhibition 2022
The annual Wadswick Green Art and Craft exhibition will be held 28 Feb to 13 March. Can I suggest that we, as a group, make a collective display of each of our 1 or 2 favourite images? We can discuss how to make prints using, for example, Photobox at our next meeting on 10 February.
