Create Google Account

To create a Google account click here

Fill in the form

• First Name
• Last Name
• Email address - Normally I would recommend creating a gmail email account purely for use on google apps but it is probably easier for you to avoid adding extra email addresses to your mail applications.  So click "Use my Current Email Address instead" and type it in.
• Create and remember a password.  It is not a good idea to use a password you use somewhere else.

Click Next

• Go To your emails and look for an email from Google containing a verification code
• Go back to the web page and enter the verification code to prove you own that email address

Click Next

• Fill in 
• your phone number (While this is optional, I recommend you use your mobile as this will allow you to receive security codes by text)
• date of birth
• Gender

Click Next

Follow the instructions to verify your phone number.

Choose whether you want to add your phone number to your account.  Doing so adds functionality but gives you more to think about.  So probably best not to.  Click "more options" and check the "security only" option.

Click Done

You can click express set up if you wish - this will allow Google to keep records of your use of Google apps and tp personalise adverts.  This is not a problem with the limited use you are likely to make but if you are concerned choose manual setting and set every option to "off" or "no"

OK out of the final dialogues.
